RileyBreed: Belgian Draft
My Story: Riley once lived a lonely life as an only horse in an unkempt and unfit living space. She was rescued at an early age and has been participating in equine assisted psychotherapy since its inception with EAT of NJ. She is the boss lady on the farm and the cornerstone of her family. Don't let her big size fool you; Riley has a heart of gold. |
JulioBreed: Warmblood
My Story: Julio was climbing the Dressage ladder and winning competitions down in Florida until he developed a painful allergic reaction to a native Floridian fly. His human found EAT of NJ and sent him up north in 2016 so he could live pain free. Julio gets along with every horse in the herd, as he is a "go with the flow" type of guy. Julio helps new riders learn the basics and helps advanced riders play with his dressage skills. He is also an excellent addition to the psychotherapy team. |
BearBreed: Quarter Horse
My Story: Bear is our resident senior citizen who was once a jumping champion. He has helped teach hundreds of young riders the basics of horse back riding and show ring etiquette. You can still see the glimmer in his eyes when he’s around cavalettis but he has since slowed down and enjoys the part he plays in psychotherapy. |
SmokeBreed: Quarter Horse
My Story: Smoke spent most of his youth around cowboys. He was gelded late and displays some stallion tendencies when in a herd. As a result, Smoke spends most of his time in a “bachelor” paddock on his own. He once shined in the riding program but is now a dedicated member of the psychotherapy team. |
Barn CatsMy Story: Many moons ago a feral cat and had a liter of kittens in the wall of the barn. We rescued and adopted her and her babies. We now have Momma Cat, Panther, and Tiger Lily as the resident mousers of EAT of NJ. They also love to join in on psychotherapy sessions from time to time too!

In Memoriam: Patriot Moon AKA BuddyBreed: Paint
My Story: Buddy spent a lot of time with his mamma, kind of like the son who never moves out! He was affectionately known as Muddy Buddy as he loved the occasional mud bath. Buddy sadly transitioned in May 2025. He is remembered as a friend to all who helped so many humans and horses during his time on earth. We love and miss you dearly, Buddy. |
