ABA Services:
ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis.
This service uses evidenced based behavioral principles to help clients meet their goals. ABA focuses on goals that are socially significant to the client. In the barn atmosphere, ABA works on goals associated with the barn and horses, along with generalizing general life goals to an ever changing environment. ABA is a treatment option most often associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), however has empirical research to support a wide variety of diagnoses. If utilizing health insurance, typically an ASD diagnosis is required. The BCBA on staff can help to answer questions related to health insurance for ABA. Equine Assisted Therapy of NJ may also be able to provide ABA services through state, county, and educational programs.
Consultative Services:
A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) works directly with the client, appropriate family
members, and a multidisciplinary team to assess, develop a treatment plan, and implement the plan. Consultative services focus mainly on equipping the client’s support network with skills and strategies to create the best behavior change environment possible to meet the client’s goals.
Direct Services:
A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) works directly with the client, appropriate family
members, and a multidisciplinary team to assess, develop a treatment plan, and implement the plan. In this model, the BCBA works directly with the client to address goals. This model is considered more intensive than the consultative model.
Parent Training Services:
A BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) works directly with the client, appropriate family
members, and a multidisciplinary team to assess, develop a treatment plan, and implement the plan. In this model, the primary recipient of services is the family of a client. Goals will be
focused on learning and applying behavior analytic principles so that the family members can best support the client. Sessions include both a “textbook” portion and portion to work on the strategies learned with the client and/or BCBA. The parent training services typically are in addition to either the consultative or direct services model.
