BECOME A VOLUNTEER!
Becoming one of our volunteers is more than just helping out. You are an integral part of the program and part of our team. It is through your enthusiasm and dedication that together we will continue and make a difference in the lives of others within our community. Volunteer opportunities exist within a variety of options not only within the stable. We welcome volunteers to help with volunteer programs, fundraising, student mentors, administration office, horse care, donations, and more. It promises to be one of the most rewarding opportunities for all involved!
Requirements
Side Walkers-are responsible for the stability and safety of the rider while mounted at all times (Generally, side walkers walk beside the rider to provide stability assistance as needed and may assist with mount and dismount if needed. Sometimes side walkers give physical assistance while other times, the side walkers help the riders stay focused during class; it all depends on the needs of the rider.)
Horse Leaders-are responsible for the horse. Horse leaders lead the horse during the mount, class time, and dismount.
Horse Caretakers-assist in managing the horses health and daily activites. This may involve grooming and tacking for lessons, bringing horses to the arena, etc. OUr horses health and attitudes are primary to getting this work done, so we require volunteers to be specifically trained in this area.
Stable Management-is an area that ALWAYS needs help! Volunteers are needed to clean stalls, paddocks, and the barn, clean tack, manage water buckets, hay, etc. We also have big projects such as fixing fences and gates, and stacking hay, that volunteers can assist in for a one time activity.
Fundraising-Time is money! Money is hay, grain, electricity, vet bills, wheelchair ramps, scholarships, etc. If you have experience in getting grants and funds, we need you! If you want to participate in special fundraising events or just have great ideas, we need you!
These are just some of the areas we love volunteers to participate in, but we want to use your unique abilities! So if you have another way you would like to volunteer, please let us know!
